All-Sangha Meeting, Sunday, June 24, 2012, 4-5:30 pm

Introductory Vipassana Classes

This is a five-week class which meets in Larkspur. The class is taught by long-time Sangha members Barbara McHugh and Bill Coffin. There are flyers with more information about when the next series of classes starts at Sangha. If you have questions or are interested in participating, please contact Bill Coffin at "billc at eclipsoid dot com."

Do You Have News to Share with the Sangha?

Veta Jacqulin (vetaja at att dot net) is the Marin Sangha Communications Liaison. If you have any announcements that need to be communicated via an all-sangha e-mail (social events, book club information, circle of caring updates, etc.), please let Veta know and she will pass it on to the office and it will be included in the e-mails.

The following is a note from Alison Teal who is our new social coordinator and community advocate.

Dear Sangha Members,
As many of you have no doubt noticed, there is energy afoot in our Sangha to develop a greater feeling of community. We will continue having our monthly extended social time after Sangha. Name-tags will be available on the round table by the entry door so that we can begin to learn each other’s names. Those who feel comfortable wearing a tag, please do so.

Watch for news regarding a Sangha email group, which is currently in the works. It will provide an informal way of communicating everything from Sangha events to carpooling.

Our Sangha newsletter recently made its debut. If you are at all interested in helping to produce it, by all means, get involved. Also, for those of you with literary impulses, we will be looking for contributions in the form of brief meditation and practice experiences that you would like to share. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Veta and Barbara are available for editing. This is your newsletter, so how it evolves will in part be up to you.

You will notice, our new Sangha dry marker board at the back table. One of its purposes is to keep you informed of news related to our Sangha - and Phillip's upcoming events.

Know that you are all invited to join of a group of people who go out to eat after Sangha. Typically, we meet at My Thai in San Rafael (1240 4th street between B and C.) But, check our new dry marker board at the information table in the event the location changes.

You’ll notice on the back table there are some new fliers about hosting events. Whether you wish to invite others to accompany you to a Buddhist event, or simply enjoy the company of Sangha people on a hike or other activity, the flier Hosting Events for the Marin Sangha, has lots of suggestions for potential outings. The flier will also tell you how to go about inviting Sangha members. Sign-up sheets for such events are also located on the table. Give Cory a brief statement of your event (what, where when etc) so that he can announce it and direct members to the back table for more detailed information. Also, upcoming events may be posted on the dry marker board. If you have any questions about hosting an event and/or would like support in bringing your vision into being, contact Alison Teal at 510-548-6860.

New Sangha Metta Practice

In an effort to support sangha members, we have recently added a new element to our sangha metta practice. You will have an opportunity to request that the sangha send metta to someone in the sangha or to someone you are close to who is facing a loss, a health crisis, or some other hardship. Cards will be available on the dana table for you to write down the name of the person you wish us to send metta to, along with a sentence about him or her. The cards will be collected in a basket and read aloud before the closing metta practice. Phillip will ask that we include these people in our metta practice.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT AUDIO RECORDINGS OF DHARMA TALKS

We will continue to record all Marin Sangha dharma talks. At Phillip's discretion they will be posted on dharmawisdom.org and available to download by anyone visiting the website. Please understand that any question you ask will become part of the audio recording that is posted. Your questions are a great contribution for they resonate with many people.
