Self Care for Care Providers, Spirit Rock Meditation Center
This daylong is especially designed for professional care providers such as healthcare practitioners, psychotherapists, and body workers. It is also appropriate for family members or friends caring for someone who is ill.
Care providing can be enormously fulfilling. You have an opportunity to connect with another human being at a very deep level and the feeling of intimacy you experience in care providing can dispel feelings of isolation. Your generosity and kindness nurture your heart and you have the contentment of knowing that you are of benefit to another being.
However, being a care provider is also laden with challenges, many obvious, some quite subtle or hidden. Your resources, both internal and external, may be scarce. You may be experiencing a lot of stress and uncertainty may pervade many different areas of your life. Moreover, as kind and compassionate as you are in your care providing, you may discover that you are undermining yourself by being violent to your body and mind in the routine of your daily life. You may be caught, perhaps consciously or unconsciously, in one or more of the seven traps in care providing.
During this daylong, we will explore the seven traps and how they drain your energy and impair your ability to care for yourself. We will offer antidotes you can use to release yourself from the trap(s) and restore your personal energy and vitality as well as your dedication and passion.
